What can massage do?
Facilitate body repair
Massage therapy has been shown to increase circulation, enable muscles and other soft tissues to soften, release and ‘unstick’ from neighboring tissues so that motion becomes easier, pain and tension are reduced and fluid exchange in the area increases -which in turn speeds the recovery process. Massage can improve endocrine balance, including raising serotonin, possibly enabling better sleep - when the body repairs itself most!
Reduce stress
Maybe you need ‘you’ time, or having a hard time relaxing since you were in an accident. Maybe you’ve had trauma in your body and need safe caring touch to reprogram your nervous system, or have a stressful workload. Stress is significantly linked to pain, posture, sleep and digestion problems, puts extra physical wear & tear on the body and mind, can slow healing and correlates with increase in many serious conditions. Stress reduction is a real medical need! Massage relaxes muscles and improves ease.
Free your body
Our bodies are constantly ‘optimizing’ us for the positions we are in the most. This means that we can become ‘shrink-wrapped’ in that desk sitting position, and it can feel like a struggle to sit or stand up straight, walk, run, stretch or do other things you love! Not only can massage facilitate the release of tight muscles, and fascia but can also ‘unstick’ areas in the body to allow easier movement and better posture. Michelle also uses her dance instructor knowledge to give you ideas to use at home to further free up and reprogram your movement.
